Walthamstow FC x William Morris Gallery x Admiral

The football kit that put a grassroots East London club in the V&A permanent collection.

In a world-first collaboration between a museum and a football club, Wood Street Walls brought together the William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow FC and British sportswear manufacturer Admiral. The design team was given full access to the Gallery's archive of textiles and wallpapers, digitally re-drawing and colour-matching "Yare" by John Henry Dearle to be sublimated across the kit, taking over a hundred hours of research and design.

The collection won a D&AD award and is held in the V&A's permanent collection. It includes the home and away jerseys, home shorts, the walk-out jacket, and the limited Blackout edition.
